MEET
Joanne

Joanne graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2013 with a qualifying law degree, following which she spent a number of years in practice where she gained a wealth of experience, including at specialist family law firms, Lund Bennett Law and BPS Family Law.

Having undertaken the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE) in 2021/22, Joanne was within the first cohort of solicitors to qualify under the newly implemented route to becoming a Solicitor in 2022. The SQE is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, ensuring the high quality and standard of new Solicitors.

Joanne joined the team at Beyond Law Group in 2023 as a Solicitor within McAlister Family Law. She specialises in divorce and the division of matrimonial finances, including where financial proceedings are issued and guides clients right through from the application stage up to and including Final Hearing and interim applications, such as those for maintenance pending suit.

She has experience dealing with matters which concern international elements, such as businesses and properties and has represented high net worth clients with income and/or assets worth in excess of £1 million. Joanne has also acted for Civil Partners upon the dissolution of their Civil Partnership and finalising their financial ties.

Additionally, Joanne advises on matters concerning the arrangements for children upon separation and, where appropriate, acts on behalf of parents to reach a conclusion outside of Court proceedings. However, she is also well versed in making applications to the Court under the Children Act 1989 for child arrangements to determine with whom the children shall live and how often they spend time with the other parent.

Joanne’s experience also extends to dealing with Prohibited Steps Orders to prevent one parent from removing the children from the care of the other and to prevent international travel to a country that is not a signatory to the international child abduction Hague Convention. Further, her experience covers applications for a Specific Issue Order for the relocation of the children both within and outside of the jurisdiction.

Complimentary to her expertise  within family law, Joanne has an array of dispute resolution experience, including contested probate matters. This positions her to work closely with the Partner of the firm, Jason Stanley, as they represent either the Estate, or surviving partner during the course of contested separation proceedings, where family finances are yet to be finalised.

Joanne prides herself on her calm and thorough approach to dealing with matters arising from a relationship breakdown. As a result of her personal experiences, Joanne is able to empathise with her clients and understands the importance of knowing the steps that need to be taken and the likely timescales that are involved to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
