About Vicky
Vicky is a Partner at McAlister Family Law, specialising in both public and private children law matters. With over 20 years of experience advising on all aspects of children’s law, Vicky brings a depth of knowledge and practical insight to complex and sensitive cases. For 16 years, Vicky has represented local authorities in child care proceedings and, for the past six years, served as an In-House Advocate at Cheshire West and Chester Council. In this role, Vicky provided legal advice to social workers and represented the Council in contested court hearings.
Vicky’s services spans all levels of the Family Court, including high-profile and complex cases involving adoption, serious non-accidental injury, sexual abuse, fabricated or induced illness, and parental alienation. Notably, Vicky represented Cheshire West and Chester Council in the landmark case Re A-F Children [2018] EWHC 138 (Fam), where Sir James Munby, then President of the Family Division, issued a groundbreaking judgment on the deprivation of liberty of children—reshaping legal practice across England and Wales. Vicky subsequently delivered training to members of the judiciary following this decision.
