Award-winning Partner Kirsty Leedam joins McAlister Family Law amidst Liverpool growth

McAlister Family Law has strengthened its growing Liverpool presence with the appointment of leading family lawyer Kirsty Leedam as Partner, as the specialist family and children law practice continues its ambitious expansion across the city.

Kirsty’s arrival marks a significant milestone for McAlister Family Law’s Liverpool office, which opened at Exchange Station earlier this year and has already experienced strong demand for its specialist family law services. Her appointment is the first of several planned as McAlister Family Law accelerates its recruitment drive to support continued growth in the region.

Widely recognised as one of Liverpool’s most respected family lawyers, Kirsty joins McAlister Family Law with extensive experience across all aspects of family and children law. She is particularly renowned for handling complex children cases with an international element, drawing on her experience as an Attorney in the Cayman Islands, where she developed specialist expertise advising expatriate families and clients with offshore interests.

In 2025, Kirsty was named Downtown Liverpool’s Legal Personality of the Year and was shortlisted for the Liverpool Law Society Outstanding Lawyer Award, recognising her outstanding contribution to the profession.

Her expertise spans international and domestic child relocation, child abduction, parental alienation, adoption, surrogacy, child arrangements, domestic abuse and coercive control, with a particular passion for complex children cases. She also sits as a Tribunal Member, reflecting the breadth of her legal expertise and standing within the profession. She is also a respected advocate for out-of-court dispute resolution, helping families find practical and tailored solutions wherever possible.

Kirsty regularly speaks at national and regional conferences on issues including international child law, relocation, neurodiversity in family law and domestic abuse. She is a member of Resolution, the Association of Lawyers for Children, the International Bar Association and the Child Abduction Lawyers Association.

Her client base includes senior professionals from global investment banks, multinational professional services firms, leading medical organisations, offshore law firms and corporate services businesses, alongside families across the UK and internationally.

Amanda McAlister, Managing Partner of McAlister Family Law, said: “Bringing Kirsty to McAlister Family Law is a huge appointment for our Liverpool office and one that reflects our ambition for the city. She is one of the region’s standout family lawyers, with an exceptional reputation and outstanding technical expertise.

We opened our Liverpool office earlier this year because we saw a real opportunity to bring our specialist family and children law expertise to the city, and the response has been incredible. Demand continues to grow, and Kirsty’s appointment is the first of several senior hires we have planned over the coming months as we continue to invest in Liverpool and build one of the strongest family law teams in the region.”

Kirsty Leedam added: “I’m delighted to be joining McAlister Family Law at such an exciting point in its journey. There is real momentum behind the Liverpool office, and it’s exciting to be joining at a time when the team is expanding and the practice is investing so heavily in the city. I’m looking forward to working alongside exceptional colleagues, supporting clients through complex family matters and helping to shape the next phase of growth.”

McAlister Family Law launched its Liverpool office at Exchange Station earlier this year as part of its strategic growth across the North West. With further appointments planned over the coming months, the practice is continuing to invest in talent and strengthen its position as one of the UK’s leading specialist family law practices.
