DONNA

Donna is a highly respected solicitor with extensive experience in all aspects of the law relating to children. She regularly advises and represents children, parents, local authorities and other interested parties in care proceedings, adoption proceedings, Wardship and applications in the Inherent Jurisdiction of the High Court , deprivation of liberty and secure accommodation applications, and private law proceedings to determine where a child should live, future contact arrangements and/or to resolve other parenting disputes.

Her specialism in these areas is acknowledged by her membership of the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme since 1996.

Donna is a legal representative on the Local Family Justice Board, the aims of which are to improve efficiencies in the Family Justice system. She is also a longstanding member of Child Concern whose objectives are to work to further knowledge and practice in Children’s Law.

Donna leads McAlister’s Local Authorities Team. She previously worked as a solicitor for Salford City Council in child care and mental health law, and has since acted on behalf of eight local authorities in the North West area. She was formerly a member of Salford’s Adoption Panel and was responsible for multi-disciplinary training for social workers, foster carers, lawyers, police officers, medical and other professionals working in the field of child protection. She continues to be involved in providing training for social workers.
